A Twenty-Year-Old Domain Rebuilt As A Sustainable Professional Archive
A twenty-year-old domain with an expired certificate and outdated infrastructure was rebuilt into a fast, static archive representing four distinct professional careers, while preserving the family’s existing Google Workspace email throughout the migration.
The challenge
Drkaupp.com had been online since 2004 but had become difficult to maintain. The site’s SSL certificate had expired, creating browser security warnings, while the underlying WordPress installation had gone several years without updates.
The existing site represented only one member of the Kaupp family, despite the domain supporting four separate professional bodies of work across workforce development, trauma research, higher education, and AI/legal technology.
The project required rebuilding the site without disrupting the domain’s active Google Workspace email service.
Our approach
We began by auditing the existing infrastructure, verifying what was still functioning, and separating the website issues from the domain’s DNS and email dependencies.
Rather than rebuilding a traditional homepage, we created a professional index that connects four individual profiles under one shared domain. Each profile was researched and structured around verified publications, appointments, and professional history.
The new site was rebuilt as a lightweight static experience with a focus on readability, longevity, and minimal maintenance. A restrained editorial design system of warm ivory, deep green, and serif typography reflects the academic and professional nature of the content.
The result
Drkaupp.com launched as a secure, responsive archive connecting four professional profiles through a single family domain.
The migration preserved Google Workspace email, maintained domain ownership with the family, and replaced an aging CMS installation with a simpler static architecture that requires no ongoing plugin or security maintenance.
Future additions can be made easily without rebuilding the site, providing a durable foundation for the next stage of the domain’s life.
